For this site redesign, I was hired for a quick two week turnaround & a proposed the new site design. I immediately went to work on getting to know the company and their competition. Given they were a startup and new to the market I thought I would ask around and get an idea of what users would think of the site as first time visitors. The feedback I received was that users felt like the site was trying to sell them something before they even knew what the value was of the product. From company research I had discovered that the company was using real chamber music rather then midi files and utilized puppeteers from Fraggle Rock. Given this I knew I needed to highlight the value of the company immediately to the user. I also wanted to make sure the everything was easy to find. I ran a card sort to ensure the navigation made sense, teaching the marketing firm I worked for (who was unfamiliar with user testing about principles and importance of testing and research). Based on my findings I laid out the site to have a 4 piece carousel on the home page that would highlight the value of this company and their products. Then added other modules below to highlight other areas of the company (products, awards they have won, etc) to draw users into the site or to various projects. The client really liked the solution.
